THE PHOBIA MODEL

THE PHOBIA MODEL
Let’s see how this might be used in a phobia that a client
presents to you. Suppose a client comes to you and says, “I’ve got
a phobia.” You say, “Great. Can you float up above your Time
Line?” “Yes.” “Go back into your past and recall the earliest time
that you can remember this event.” Now, you run the Phobia
Model on the event. What is the Phobia Model?

Essentially the process is this:
1. Run the memory in black and white, dissociated (seeing
your body in the picture), on the movie screen, run it out to
the end.
2. Then freeze frame, and white it out (turning up the bright-
ness), or black it out (turning the brightness down).

3. Then run the movie in color backwards to the beginning,
looking through your own eyes.
4. Do a swish pattern,

using how you used to act in the
phobia situation as the old picture, and how you want to act
in the future as the new picture.

The phobia model is described more fully in the book Using
Your Brain For A Change. It’s also described in the book Magic In
Action. There is a full description there, and under any circum-
stances, it is a must-read.
Using the Phobia Model with Time Line, when you change
the major memory in a gestalt, you will change many more
memories. The way I discovered this was by working with
someone who had a mouse phobia, using the Time Line as the
referential point. So what does it do? First, it dissociates the client
completely. Second, it tends to change the whole gestalt more
easily.
